As a facilitator of art knowledge, a teacher of meaningful art practices & skills and a believer in self-realized liberation my aim as an art educator is to offer a holistic art experience for young people that stimulates an awareness to ones personal voice and power. In designing and implementing projects and curriculum that are socially responsive I hope to create a generation of students that will look at not just art but the world with a critical and impactful lens. Recognizing that they are not passive consumers to information and visuals but are meaning makers and paradigm shifters.
As a facilitator of art knowledge I will present history and theories of art and culture as food for thought by allowing students to openly discuss and build upon said topics. Encouraging an open forum where information can be questioned and built upon will further my hope in creating an active and engaged educational environment.
As a teacher of meaningful art practices & skills I will include a variety of valuable art lessons that will teach core art principles and theories which strengthen art making processes and results. Exploring art both objectively and subjectively will allow students to not only create an understanding of art making as an aesthetic practice but look at art as a solution to make meaning and express depth.
As a believer in self-realized liberation I will encourage students to become aware of their personal struggles and use art as a means to confront and defeat them. Giving students the tools necessary to get out of unwanted circumstance and shift into more powerful life purposes is my role and should be the role of all education.
